How can I get listed in your online directory as a Green builder?

All you need to do to be listed in the DE G4G Builder Online Directory is to submit your building company for approval by completing the online builder application.  Once your application has been approved, your company will be listed in the DE G4G Builder Online Directory.

What building standards do my homes need to comply with to qualify for Green certification?

Rebates are being awarded to home buyers and Non profit builders once certified and settled whose new construction homes meet one of three different certification programs: the National Green Building Standard Program, the LEED for Homes program and Energy Star 3.0 HERS rated or RESNET HERS rated.  For additional information about the National Green Building Standard Program, go to www.nahbgreen.org.  For additional information on the LEED for Residential Program, go to www.usgbc.org.For more information on Energy Star 3.0, go to http://www.energystar.gov. For in formation on Resnet Hers rating go to http://www.resnet.us.

How do I get a home certified by one of these programs? see links above.

I want to participate in the Rebate program.  How do I get started?

#1.  The first step in participating in the Delaware Green for Green Rebate Program is to submit your building company for approval by completing the online builder application

#2  Visit the Contact A Verifier for either the NGBS program,  LEED program , Energy Star 3.0 or Resnet Hers rated .Once your application has been approved, you can submit a rebate application  on behalf of each individual buyer who you have under contract for a new green home. Funds are issued direct deposit payable to the home purchaser after closing. If a home goes to settlement prior to the builder applying and being approved for a specific rebate for that specific home, then that home does not qualify for the program.

Note:  Not all properties will qualify for this rebate program, based on location.  Homes built in level 4 areas, as established by the Strategies for State Policy and Spending, do not qualify.

These are the only exceptions - NO WAIVER being granted. The only exceptions to this ruling are those in level 4 which are in one or more of the following:

  • 1)      Municipal annexation area
  • 2)      Environmentally Sensitive Developing Area (Sussex)
  • 3)      DelDOT subregional master plan area (Georgetown, Milford, Delmar, Rehoboth-Lewes, MOT at the moment)
  • 4)      Minor subdivision (4 lots or less) or stand-alone lot

If builders are unsure if the property meets one of these exceptions, please email the names and addresses of the property to jen@hbade.org for determination.

Large-format versions of the 2010 Strategy maps

The following PDF files are large-format version of the State Strategies maps. They are designed to print at 22x34 inches (ANSI D) and are large enough for easy browsing and zooming-in using the tools included in the free Adobe Acrobat reader. Because of the large size of these files, we recommend saving them to your hard-drive (right-click:save file as) prior to opening them.

How many Rebate applications can I submit?

A builder may submit a rebate application for an unlimited number of pending contracts as long as each contract meets the grant requirements.  Rebate funding is limited and is available on a first come first served basis.

Funds are issued by check to the home purchaser after closing. If a home goes to settlement prior to the builder applying and being approved for a specific rebate for that specific home, then that home does not qualify for the program.
